Thailand’s first monkeypox case goes missing

Yesterday, the first case of monkeypox was reported in Thailand. At night, a 27-year-old Nigerian escaped from a private hospital in Phuket and left in a white car. Authorities are currently searching for him, but his whereabouts are unknown.

 

No further details are available at this time. Phuket Governor Narong Wunsiu will issue an urgent press release on the matter at 11:00 am.

The man had recently traveled from Nigeria to Thailand and had the following symptoms: fever, cough, sore throat, runny nose and skin lesions. The result of his PCR test was positive for the monkeypox virus.

A total of 15,378 cases have been reported worldwide since the beginning of the monkeypox outbreak in 2022.
