Deputy government spokesman Ratchada Thanadirek said the Cabinet is considering a bill under the Excise Tax Law proposed by MP Piphop Limcharoenkron of the Forward Party. In agreement with the Cabinet of Ministers, the Ministry of Finance will work on revising the rules for the production of alcohol at home.
While the loosening of domestic alcohol laws is intended to give more freedom to the public, alcohol production processes will need to be controlled to meet sanitary standards.
“The cabinet has insisted that the regulations should focus on controlling the quality and safety of beverages and limiting the environmental impact from the manufacturing process. Meanwhile, the regulations must not limit people’s freedom in making alcoholic beverages for personal use.”
